Protect Your Family

Protect Your Family

Protecting yourself and your family from financial fallout is on the top of everyone’s mind, especially during these uncertain times.

Let me state very bluntly: The first thing you need to do is to get Life Insurance.

Life insurance is important, as it protects your family and lets you leave them a non-taxable amount at the time of death. It can also be used to cover mortgage and other loans, such as your car loan.  Also remember,  your individual life insurance covers you when you retire and you are no longer insured by your employer.

There are two types of life insurance that you may want to consider – Term Insurance and Permanent Life Insurance.

Term life insurance as the name suggests covers you for a specific period of time, usually 10, 20 or 30 years. If you die during the term of the policy, then you are covered.

However, once the term expires, you’re no longer covered. Term life insurance is ideal for those who may only need coverage during a certain period of time and is cheaper than Permanent Life Insurance.

Permanent life insurance covers you throughout your life. Unlike term life, which offers a payout if you die, permanent policies also create a savings account where you can earn accumulate  cash savings within the policy.

These earnings are generally tax-deferred.  One of the benefits of Permanent Life Insurance is that over time you can borrow against the savings portion.  You also have a fixed premium for life which will not change.  There is also the option to pay off your life insurance policy in 10, 15 or 20 years.

Permanent Life Insurance is suitable for those who want to cover inheritance or estate taxes or to take care of long-term needs.

It’s not pleasant to broach sensitive and uncomfortable topics, but it does make sense to be prepared for eventualities.

Therefore, please do not delay. Don’t let paperwork, medical tests and financial terminology scare you.  Get in touch with me today and I can walk you through what you need to do to protect your family.
